Pirelli Oil & Marine hose plant was originally founded in Veniano in 1968 and later relocated to Ortona.

The plant has been manufacturing for more than 50 years the widely recognised range of submarine and floating hoses – under the brand ISOLA –   for the cargo transfer at offshore mooring systems.

During this period double carcass and Large Bore LPG hoses were developed by the internal Research and Development team in cooperation with the major Oil Companies.

The plant was approved supplier to all the major global oil companies.

The Ortona manufacturing facility covered all the offshore and LPG cargo transfer requirements including Low Temperature FSO to Shuttle, high tensile hose lines used both for cargo and mooring with maximum internal diameter up to 600 mm.

Parker Hannifin Corporation acquired the production facility in 2002.

In September 2014 Parker Hannifin Corporation sold the plant and the ISOLA brand of marine hoses to Yokohama Rubber Co.

In 2016 Yokohama expanded the product range introducing the GMPHOM 2009 certified Seaflex Single and Double Carcass brand of Textile Reinforced Floating and Submarine Hoses.

On the 30th of January Alfagomma has reached an agreement for the purchase of the Yokohama plant in Ortona.

This strategic acquisition will strengthen Alfagomma global market position by supporting its Industrial and Hydraulic fluid handling business units with the GMPHOM Oil & Marine product range.

Alfagomma expects to restart production by mid-2021.
